The Warren Jones Foundation through its trustees has a strong history and demonstrated expertise of delivery of projects and events that have influenced the State of Western Australia.

VISION

To provide access to early and frequent opportunities for Youths to develop lifelong skills and resilience via the sport of sailing. Championing successes in Industry and Sport.

  • Generational:  Being inspired by and learning from Alumni and partners accelerates opportunities in Sport and Industry.

  • Competition:  Events foster timeline management and pressure points, developing resilience in participants.

 

MISSION

The Warren Jones Foundation champions Youth access to sailing and provides opportunities free of traditional challenges. Gap filling projects require an agility that only a singular focus organisation can provide.

 

LEGACY

Every major sailing maritime project on the West Coast of Australia has been rooted within the organisation. The Warren Jones Alumni are champions of Professional Sailing and Industry today. The Legacy of Warren Jones continues.

WARREN JONES FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBERS

  • John Bertrand AO (Patron)
    International yachtsman, businessman, philanthropist, John Bertrand skippered Australia II to victory over the US team Liberty to win the 1983 America’s Cup.

  • Lance Douglas (Doug) Kerr (Chairman)
    Fellow of the Australian Society of Practicing Accountants and Chairman of the Shacks Motor Group. Doug has been an active yachtsman since the age of 12 having sailed successfully locally, Nationally and Internationally.

  • Ian Olson (Treasurer)
    Ian Olson has been involved in competitive international one-design sailing since his childhood.

  • Luke Paterson (Secretary)
    Luke is a partner at large independent law firm based in Perth. Luke’s is a commercial and corporate lawyer with a particular focus on transactions, venture capital and private business.

  • Robbie Gibbs (Trustee)
    Robbie began sailing at four years old, in Perth Western Australia. He competed on the youth international circuit, where he won multiple state, national and international events.

  • John Rosser (Trustee)
    John commenced his sporting career whilst at Hale concentrating on rowing and sailing.

  • John Longley AM (Trustee)
    John Longley has had a long career in sailing, initially in dinghies and then in ocean racing. This led to his involvement in the America’s Cup, which saw him competing in five matches from 1974 to 1987, including being project manager and crewman on Australia II during the successful challenge for the Cup in 1983.

  • Andy Fethers (Trustee)
    Competed for the America’s Cup four times for four nations in Australia, USA, Italy and Sweden.

  • Terri Platell (Trustee)
    Terri is the eldest daughter of Warren Jones and is the family’s representative as a trustee on the Board.
