Host Family Expression of Interest
RFBYC has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the Warren Jones Regatta, with numerous Club teams competing in the event over the past two decades. This internationally recognized competition has launched many sailors onto the global sailing stage, and we are thrilled to welcome teams for the 2025 event, scheduled from 27 to 31January.
Although the Club has been involved with the Warren Jones Regatta for many years, this will be the first time we are managing the event in its entirety, including arranging accommodation for the teams. We anticipate hosting at least eight interstate or international teams, each consisting of 5-6 sailors (or 6-7 for all-female teams) from the ages of 18 – 25 years. To support this, we are reaching out to our members to find ‘host families’ willing to accommodate these teams.
Feedback from previous participants highlights that sailors enjoy the billeting experience and meeting their host families. We understand that hosting an entire team can be challenging, but teams are open to being split among several homes. We encourage members to participate and be part of this iconic event.
The Club will be hosting the Warren Jones Regatta in 2025, 2026, and 2027 and is eager to involve as many members as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to bring the “Freshie Family” together and foster lasting friendships.
Lunches and most dinners will be provided for sailors as part of the event. The Club can assist with additional bedding and support with other meals for the sailors.
